There has never been a loyal representation of Emma Frost in an X-Men movie. In X-Men: First Class, January Jones played Emma, but outside of her dress style, there was nothing in the performance that showed the full power and strength of the character. Tahyna Tozzi played a version in X-Men Origins – Wolverine, but outside of her Diamond Form, it was also a somewhat lacking representation.

The MCU has a chance to get things right when they begin with their X-Men universe, but it remains to be seen who shows up in that mutant lineup. In the comics, Emma Frost started out as a major villain and then joined the X-Men, where she has even served as a leader. She is one of the most powerful mutants alive and a strong female character that could have made any movie she appeared in better, if they only based it on her comic book counterpart.

10 Emma Frost Rejected The X-Men As A Teen

When Emma Frost’s mutant powers manifested themselves, Professor Charles Xavier set out to see if she would join his school to learn how to use her powers better. The first power she manifested was her psychic power and she knocked everyone in her school out, proving dangerous.

However, Emma did not want to join Xavier and her father, who demanded that she only excel in academics and put games behind her, feeling that Xavier’s school was beneath her. This led to her running away from home and ending up with a new family.

9 Emma Frost Was A Leader In The Hellfire Club

Emma Frost was dancing for the Hellfire Club, but when the audience mocked her, she lashed out at them mentally and then ran to her dressing room to hide. That is when Sebastian Shaw found her, attacked her, and forced her to fight back with her powers. When she did, he realized they could rule the Hellfire Club together.

In X-Men: First Class, Shaw was the leader of the Hellfire Club, but Emma was just a lackey for him and she showed little power on her own. In the comics, she was the White Queen to his Black King, and they ruled over the club.

8 Emma Frost Is An Omega-Level Telepath

It might seem strange for people who only know Emma Frost from Fox’s X-Men movies, where she was either weak or inexperienced, but she is an omega-level telepath in the comics. Omega-level mutants are the most powerful in the mutant universe because there are no known limits to what they can do.

While Emma is not an omega-level mutant she is the highest order of telepaths. Her powers allowed her to overpower Professor X mentally in X-Men: Legacy #216 and has bested both X-Man and Hope Summers, two other high-level telepaths.

7 Emma Frost’s Two Mutations Can’t Work Together

Emma Frost is a mutant who has two different power sets. Her main mutation is in psychic abilities, and she is one of the world’s most powerful telepaths. In some cases, her telepathic abilities rival that of Professor Xavier. But she also has a secondary mutation.

Emma’s secondary mutant ability is the power to turn her entire body into an organic Diamond Form. This is similar to how Colossus turns into steel. There is only one problem. While in Diamond Form, Emma has no access to her telepathic powers.

6 Emma Frost Helped Cause The Dark Phoenix Saga

The Dark Phoenix Saga was an event that shook the X-Men’s world. In this, Jean Grey had an accident in space, and what returned was the Phoenix, in Jean’s body. She had more powers than ever, with her telekinesis and telekinetic powers, but also with the added Phoenix Force. Then, the Hellfire Club took over.

The Hellfire Club kidnapped Jean and then brainwashed her to serve with them. However, the tampering with her brain unlocked the full power of the Phoenix and the Dark Phoenix was born, destroying an entire galaxy. The Phoenix ended up dying because of this, and it was the Hellfire Club’s fault.

5 Emma Frost Started Her Own School For Mutants

Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost decided they needed to find more mutants who could be warriors, and they wanted them to be more than what Professor X had with his mutants. That is when Emma decided she could help by starting her own school for mutants that was an alternative to Xavier’s Institute.

While Charles asked students to join his school to help make the world a better place, Emma offered something different. She wanted her students to grow in power, and instead of helping the world, learn how to protect themselves from the world and fight back if needed. The Hellions became rivals with the New Mutants.

4 Emma Turned Repented And Joined The X-Men

Emma Frost was growing more violent as time went on, and the way she trained her Hellions was brutal. She realized that she was treating them like her father treated her, with an abusive style. However, she felt that this made her and the Hellions successful. But what it resulted in was the death of her mutant students.

The Hellfire Club’s Black Queen, Selene, held a contest for a group called the Upstarts to kill as many mutants as possible. One of these, Trevor Fitzroy, sent Sentinels to the Hellfire Club and most of the Hellions ended up dead. Emma Frost broke down, realizing that Professor X might have been right all along, and she gave up her evil ways.

3 Emma Was The Sole Survivor Of The Genosha Attack

Over time, Emma Frost struggled to fit into her role as a teacher at Xavier’s Institute and she eventually left for the mutant haven on the island of Genosha. At this time, Professor X’s once-dead sister Cassandra returned and led an all-out attack on mutants.

This led to an attempted genocide by the crazed villain. She sent the Wild Sentinels to attack Genosha, and before anyone even knew they were under attack, they destroyed the island. There were 16 million mutants who died in the attack in one of the most horrific events to devastate Earth’s mutant heroes. But there was one survivor in Emma, who turned herself into her Diamond Form.

2 Emma Frost Started A Mutant War With The Inhumans

X-Men vs. Inhumans was a comic book series that followed a war between the two races when the Inhumans chose to release the Terrigen Mist over the Earth, which would trigger the transformation of any Inhuman on Earth. However, it was lethal to mutants and killed an entire island full, including Cyclops.

That was something no one knew because Emma Frost used her telepathic powers to create a Cyclops and then had him lead the X-Men into war with the Inhumans for revenge. It wasn’t until Emma’s deceit was discovered by the X-Men that the battle ended and the Inhumans pulled back on their plans.

1 Emma Frost Is One Of The Leaders In Krakoa

When Charles Xavier and Magneto planned the formation of the independent nation of Krakoa, they knew they needed a government. The two created what was known as the Quiet Council, and placed both good and bad mutants on it. This included both Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost.

Not only did Emma Frost gain this role as part of the Krakoa government, but Xavier also placed her in charge of international trade relations, in which she worked hand in hand with both Shaw and the Hellfire Corporation and Kitty Pryde, who worked as part of the Marauders.
