Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina had a pretty trippy plot most of the time but that doesn’t excuse some of the storylines left unresolved.

The arguably better counterpart to Riverdale, Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina met an untimely end that shocked its many fans. The witchy show was not only entertaining but also important because it handled representation and feminism well. CAOS creators had clearly written story arcs in all its four seasons that were meant to be unraveled over a few more parts, so its cancellation definitely left some plot holes gaping open.

Fans were left with many questions about some character’s fates, the identities of a few major players, and some canonical material that contradicted itself in the series finale.

10 Ambrose’s Parents

Sabrina’s cousin was ever-present throughout the series, but the show rarely, if ever, delved into the depths of his past. Audiences were told in few words that he had attempted to blow up the Vatican, which led to his house arrest at the Spellman Mortuary, but his family ties were never shown.

One would expect to see flashbacks or even a few details about Ambrose’s parents and their relationship with Aunts Hilda and Zelda, but his closeness to Sabrina or their family’s ties were never really depicted.

9 The Trinket Man

One of the biggest mysteries of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was the identity of the Trinket Man. He was a delightful character, who seemed to be on the good side, but his appearance with the Imp of the Perverse did cause big chaos in the lives of Sabrina and the gang.

However, he also waited outside the town limits to help anybody who could escape Blackwood’s perverted universe, and give them the Stone of Omphalos who turned out to be Ambrose. Fans reckon he could be the False God, with the powers and benevolence he displayed.

8 Judas And Judith

The twins, born of Constance and Faustus Blackwood, left many fans perplexed. Judith, earlier known as Leticia, was hidden away by Zelda because she feared that Blackwood would kill her, but he accepted her with open arms because of her twin birth.

Both Judas and Judith were supposed to be special and have great abilities, but they were never more than Blackwood’s quiet minions. They aged immensely fast while they were in Scotland, going from babies to 15-year-olds in the Temporal Church, worshipping their father, after which they just disappeared.

7 Prudence Disguising Herself As Penelope Blossom

In season 3 of the show, Cheryl’s mother Penelope Blossom made a surprise appearance, but not quite as herself. In the search for her father, Prudence had gone far and wide, and this time she used a glamour spell to change her appearance.

In New Orleans, she was seen as Penelope, tricking Father Blackwood in an attempt to kill him, but the plot hole is this — why Penelope? What connection did Prudence have with the older Blossom that she chose to appear as her, and when had she met her to be able to disguise herself in her form? Time won’t tell.

6 Graduation Age

After season 1, Sabrina is mostly seen in the Academy of Unseen Arts, and very little at Baxter High with her human friends. When she initially joined, she wasn’t welcomed happily as she was half-witch, and the other witches and warlocks didn’t think she could keep up.

What doesn’t add up is that some of her classmates had supposedly been hundred of years old and studying at the Academy for decades, trying to become more powerful, whereas Sabrina was just 16, and mastered her skills in less than a year (which makes sense as she was Lucifer’s own daughter), but at what point to witches graduate from the Academy? Or do they not graduate at all?

5 Salem’s Storyline

Despite being Sabrina’s familiar and being of utmost importance in the comics, Salem wasn’t really given much screen time in the show. He would sporadically pop up in a few episodes, mewing his approval or disapproval to Sabrina and saving her life a couple of times.

His moment of fame arrived in season 4 in the alternate universe, where he was the mastermind behind a twisted show about Sabrina, and he spoke. However, after Sabrina’s death, there is no mention of her familiar, and whether he died with her or lived.

4 Mary Wardwell’s Support For Blackwood

After being inhabited by Lilith, the return of Mary Wardwell to the show was very strange. Earlier, it had been revealed that she was Sabrina’s favorite teacher, but she turned out to be a believer in Father Blackwood’s church, and a willing participant in his summoning of the Eldritch Terrors to ruin the world.

She should have remembered Father Blackwood from when she was Lilith, since Sabrina’s memory spell didn’t work, and her motivations to follow Blackwood and be such an advocate for his twisted beliefs made little sense.

3 Ben Button’s Dual Role

Riverdale and CAOS existed in the same universe, so some crossovers were bound to happen. However, some of these crossovers were confusing, chronologically, and even biologically. Characters like Ben Button were plot holes on the show.

Ben was a strange character right from the start on Riverdale, where he mixed with Ms. Grundy, Chic, and played Gryphons & Gargoyles. He was shown to have died by suicide in this show, however, he also appears in CAOS, delivering pizza to Lilith. It is then implied that she killed and ate him. The question remains: how can one boy die twice?

2 Zelda’s Death Vision

This one is perhaps the biggest plot hole of them all. When Zelda was stabbed by Faustus, she saw a vision of the future in the nether realm. She was old and on her deathbed, and an aged Sabrina and Hilda were comforting her.

When she woke up, she found that Hilda was dead — which she vehemently declared couldn’t be the case as she had seen the future, where she died before Hilda. Zelda then resurrects Hilda in the Cain Pit, thus keeping her vision of the future alive. By that logic, Sabrina should also have lived at the end of the series to keep Zelda’s future vision accurate.

1 The Dark Lord’s Fate

Whatever happened to Lucifer at the end of the show? Lilith is seen attacking Lucifer with the Spear of Longinus, which should kill an immortal being, although for someone of Lucifer’s power it’s too simple a way to kill him.

However, she is also shown banishing him to the mortal realm. So did Lucifer die or was he sent to the mortal realm as punishment forever? Fans can’t seem to put a finger on it as writers were pretty unclear.
