New images from Dexter: New Blood reveal a closer look at Deb as the Dark Passenger. Following its debut in 2006, Dexter quickly became one of Showtime’s most popular offerings, with Michael C. Hall receiving numerous accolades for his portrayal of the anti-hero. After eight action-packed seasons of Dexter, the show signed off with one of the most controversial finales in television history. In the series finale, Dexter staged his death after the demise of his sister, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter), and became an isolated lumberjack in Oregon.

Last year, Showtime announced that Dexter would return for a limited 10-episode series, with Hall attached to reprise his role. Helmed by Clyde Phillips, Dexter: New Blood sees the title character living under the pseudonym of Jim Lindsay in the small town of Iron Lake, New York. Showtime continued to drum up excitement for the reboot series ahead of its November premiere, and unveiled the official Dexter: New Blood trailer, and confirmed the return of Dexter’s son, Harrison, played by Jack, Alcott, and Debra (Carpenter) replacing Harry as Dexter’s new Dark Passenger.

Showtime (via DexterDaily) released new images from Dexter: New Blood, which takes a closer look at episode 1, titled “Cold Snap”. Highlighting Deb’s return, images from “Cold Snap” reveal a mix of original and familiar faces. Showing a ghostly Deb wearing a bathrobe, as well as a wardrobe similar to a style she wore while alive, images from “Cold Snap” reveal the Dark Passenger is omnipresent in Dexter’s home. Also placing an emphasis on some of the new faces in Dexter’s life, the images include Julia Jones as Angela Bishop, the Chief of Police and Dexter’s love interest, and David Magidoff as Teddy Reed, a cop in Iron Lake. Starring Clancy Brown as the new villain, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah, and Jamie Chung, New Blood takes place over two weeks. As it stands, the series premiere of New Blood is expected to introduce Alcott as Harrison, as the official synopsis for episode 1 reads, “With a normal job and a Chief of Police girlfriend, it seems he’s got life under control – until his son shows up and turns his world upside down. Rattled, Dexter yields to his homicidal urges and soon finds himself on a collision course with a very dangerous local.”

Of course, Carpenter’s return as Debra in New Blood has been one of the most shocking reveals of the reboot. According to the images from New Blood, Debra will play a prominent role in the series and could tie into the inevitable death of Dexter. For now, it appears fans of Dexter will have to wait a little longer for the first look at the return of John Lithgow as the Trinity Killer. Dexter: New Blood debuts on Showtime on November 7.
