Xfinity X1 and Xfinity Flex users woke up to an early Christmas present: HBO Max.

The streaming service was officially added to Comcast’s lineup — for free — as part of the X1 and Flex packages, which already include Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The cable giant announced the launch in a press release after revealing its partnership with HBO and WarnerMedia earlier this year.

“The addition of the HBO Max app is another example of how we make it easier for customers to find their favorite live, on demand or streamed entertainment — all accessible with the award-winning Xfinity Voice Remote,” said Rebecca Heap, Comcast’s SVP of video and entertainment. She noted how the launch comes “in time for the holidays and the anticipated premiere of Wonder Woman 1984.”

“Since launching HBO Max, our teams have worked closely to deliver an HBO Max experience that would provide more frictionless access to Xfinity X1 and Flex customers, and we’re thrilled to debut the app today,” explained Jennifer Mirgorod, head of sales and account management at WarnerMedia Distribution. “Millions of Xfinity customers can now easily explore all that HBO Max has to offer with a simple voice command.”

When Comcast subscribers purchase Xfinity internet, they are given a 4k Flex device to stream media content on. This is where they will be able to find HBO Max. WarnerMedia recently announced that it would be putting some of its theatrical movie releases, such as Wonder Woman 1984, on the streaming service. Other big films slated to make the controversial jump include Godzilla vs. Kong and the Mortal Kombat movie. Once signed in, the Xfinity users will be able to access HBO’s entire library.
