New Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness merchandise reveal Chiwetel Ejiofor’s return as Mordo including a new costume and hairstyle. Ejiofor made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the 2016 film as a mentor figure to the titular sorcerer and a close apprentice to the Ancient One. However, upon learning of the Ancient One’s use of dark magic to keep herself alive, Mordo would abandon Kamar-Taj and set off on a path to rid the world of sorcerers, believing them all to be improperly using their magic.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will continue the story put into effect with WandaVision and Loki season 1 as Strange continues his research into the Time Stone, only to find his efforts hindered by a friend-turned-enemy and the unleashing of an unspeakable evil. Benedict Cumberbatch returns to lead the cast as the Sorcerer Supreme alongside Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Benedict Wong as Wong and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, while Xochitl Gomez makes her MCU debut as America Chavez. Development on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw some hurdles as original co-writer/director Scott Derrickson and his creative partner C. Robert Cargill departed over creative differences, with Sam Raimi later signing on in his stead with Loki creator Michael Waldron starting from scratch on the script with Raimi.

With a few months remaining until the film’s release, Hasbro Pulse has unveiled new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness merchandise. The action figure reveals the first look at Mordo’s new hairstyle and costume, a much larger mystical suit with his powers seemingly exuding from the chest and wrists, as well as his addition of a crossbow to his roster of weapons. The new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness merch marks an exciting look at Mordo’s return to the fold and the first proper one, with attention having been directed towards Wanda and America Chavez’s appearance in the sequel. The new costume displays a more comics-accurate representation of the Marvel villain for the sequel in comparison to the first film, between the longer hair and the more grandiose suit. Interestingly, the action figure also sees Mordo with new facial scars, creating a new mystery for his return in the film.

Mordo’s exact role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has largely remained a mystery through the film’s development, with many assuming him to be the primary antagonist following the post-credits sequence of the first Doctor Strange and the plot description of a friend-turned-enemy. However, given Wanda’s appearance in the sequel and the cliffhanger conclusion of WandaVision, many have theorized her to be more of an antagonist as she unleashes the still-unknown unspeakable evil.
