The seventh and presumably final season of the beloved The Clone Wars series is fast approaching, and the fandom is at a fever pitch awaiting its comeback. With the return of adored characters and long-awaited story arcs like the Siege of Mandalore, as well as the fact it seems all but confirmed that the season runs concurrently with Revenge Of The Sith, season 7 looks set to be fantastic.

Within its twelve episodes, the show has so much to get through. Alongside wrapping up the entirety of the series and saying goodbye to various characters – perhaps even for the second time – the season has so many questions to answer. So, here are 10 of the many burning questions The Clone Wars season 7 has to answer.

10 ARE THERE CONNECTIONS TO OTHER PARTS OF STAR WARS?

The Clone Wars not only connects to but improves the prequel trilogy. Its characters and storytelling make that era in Star Wars, one of the best. Since the show got canceled though, a lot has happened in the franchise, which begs the question, does season 7 connect to anything else?

Immediately the mind goes to Maul’s shock return in Solo. Perhaps the show briefly looks at the formation of the Crimson Dawn. Maybe the show has some of the beloved Rebels characters in more than just a cameo role. In even more of a stretch, what if the show looks at some sequel trilogy elements like Palpatine’s apparent lover etc.

9 DID ANYTHING ELSE HAPPEN TO PUSH ANAKIN TO THE DARK SIDE?

This is another question that will happen naturally through the course of the season. The show has done a brilliant job of giving more meat to the story of Anakin’s turn, and it makes you wonder if anything else happens in this season to further this.

Perhaps the aftermath of Ahsoka’s leaving the council leads to more disputes with the other Jedi. Or maybe a second goodbye with Ahsoka occurs to ruin Anakin even more. There is so much potential for more dark side fuel.

8 WHAT ARE THE DETAILS SURROUNDING PALPATINE’S ‘KIDNAPPING’?

The orchestration of the Battle of Coruscant was another genius move by Palpatine in his quest for power. Going by what we know about the season, it looks like we will see the said battle. If so, the season needs to provide details of the Chancellor’s kidnapping.

Not only would this further show Palpatine’s evil and genius but would also provide fans with the answers surrounding how managed to pull it off. Sometimes things are better left to the imagination, but this scene, in particular, would be even better with more details.

7 WHAT IS THE FATE OF BARRISS OFFEE?

The betrayal of Ahsoka’s shy and trusted friend Barriss Offee was a terrific twist and shock in the series. Filoni has said before that instead of killing Offee, he has plans for her. What are they? What is to be her canon fate?

Her fascinating turn, not to the Dark Side necessarily but just against the Jedi whom she believes have turned, was a brilliantly written move. It further shows the discord within the council and the war and finding out the next, and perhaps final part of Offee’s story is a must for the upcoming season.

6 HOW HAS AHSOKA TAKEN TO A NON-JEDI LIFE?

Fans know from the Ahsoka novel and Rebels some details of Ahsoka’s life after The Clone Wars. However, there is still a gap, and in that gap lies details of Ahsoka’s life fans want to know.

The show will likely delve into her life post-council, which it needs to. How Ahsoka is dealing with life without the Jedi and the council, is a fascinating plot point. Hopefully, it plays into her arc throughout the season and her aiding the Mandalorians, and her dealing with Order 66.

5 HOW MUCH DOES MAUL KNOW OF SIDIOUS’ PLAN?

When listening to Maul’s monologue in the season official trailer, there is a sense he knows something, which he appears to be telling to Ahsoka. That something is likely the plot to destroy the Jedi and Republic. But how much does he know?

It will be fascinating if Maul does know the details of Order 66, it will be equally so if Order 66 itself comes as a surprise to him. While we know what happened to Maul after Palpatine’s killing of his brother through the comics, we do not see how Maul knows about Palpatine’s plan or when he found out, or if he even does. Maul’s role in the whole thing is something that will likely be explored and is one of the most exciting aspects of the new season.

4 HOW DID REX, WOLFFE, AND GREGOR FIND OUT ABOUT THE CHIPS AND HAVE THEM REMOVED?

In season 6, the heartbreaking arc of Fives finding out the truth about the chips in the clones’ heads and the plot to destroy the Jedi occurs. In his dying moments, he tells Rex and Anakin of this conspiracy, but there is doubt there. The chips are not talked about again. Not until Rebels when fans are surprised with the returns of Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor, who have all had their chips removed. But how?

For one, fans are not sure when Gregor even returned from his apparent death. Then there is the issue of Rex who has been told about it but seems unsure, does he talk to Wolffe and Gregor only instead of his other brothers in the 501st, or Cody? There are so many questions surrounding how they managed to get their chips out and how they even found out about them before Order 66. Unless…

3 DID THEY TAKE PART IN ORDER 66?

There is an assumption that the clones found out about the plot and removed their chips before Order 66. But what if they did not? What if it was not until it all began, what if Rex, Wolffe, and perhaps Gregor took part in Order 66.

There is zero proof out there that the clones had their chips removed before the Jedi purge. It is entirely feasible that it was not until the purge itself that the clones realized what was happening and found out the truth and removed their chips. Whether Ahsoka helped or if it was down to strong mental willpower from the clones or even damaged chips, remains to be seen.

2 DID ANY OTHER CLONES FIND OUT THE TRUTH?

While the talk may center on the uncovering of the secrets by Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor, there is a possibility that perhaps other clones knew about the chips and found out the plot set in motion by Palpatine.

It seems unlikely Cody knew given the events of Revenge Of The Sith, but there are other clones. But clones from other battalions like Wolfpack, or perhaps 501st clones like Jesse. There is a possibility more clones joined Rex’s cause, found out independently, or believed Fives and so discovered for themselves and were killed or were too late.

1 WHAT HAPPENS TO THE OTHER CHARACTERS DURING AND AFTER ORDER 66?

The Clone Wars looks like it will intertwine with Revenge Of The Sith, which is good. But it also should give insight into some character’s fates during Order 66, and where they go after it has happened.

Like Cody, a prominent clone in the show. We see he takes part in Order 66, but what happens to him after that? And where do Ahsoka and Maul go after their duel? What about if Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor do not take part in the purge, what happens to them and a variety of other clones? The show has so many outstanding characters, and the final season hopefully wraps their stories up.
