Warning: includes a preview for Wonder Girl#8!
Yara Flor, the Wonder Women of DC’s Future State, is bringing her Amazon sisters to DC in Wonder Girl #8. After arriving in Brazil, Yara is able to locate her lost Amazon tribe, The Esquecida. This origin story of the soon-to-be Wonder Woman will finally reveal unanswered questions of Yara’s past and hopefully lead to more adventures with her sisters in future DC comics.
Wonder Girl (2021) created by Joëlle Jones and Jordie Bellaire, follows the story of a young Yara Flor and her heroic rise to becoming the next Wonder Woman. Unsure of her past, Yara travels to her birthplace Rio De Janeiro, Brazil where she finds herself entangled in the truths of her past. On her journey, the inexperienced hero comes across Amazons, mythical creatures, and Greek Gods who are more aware of her power than she is.
The only glimpses of Yara’s past so far are of her as a child with her tribe in a battle against an unknown enemy. After gaining the mystical bola from Iara, the Amazonian within Yara took over as she instinctively screamed her tribe’s battle cry for the first time. The same battle cry was screamed by an Esquecida Amazon as presented in their fight against Artemis and Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark.) Now, Yara is finally with her long-lost tribe in the upcoming Wonder Girl #8 by Joëlle Jones. Enjoy the awesome cover from W. Scott Forbes and DC’s solicit information for the issue below:

The Esquecida remained hidden from Man’s World in the past, but now they will have to reemerge to save their future! Who seeks to destroy their sacred lands and why? Find out in the next thrilling chapter of Wonder Girl!
The enchanting cover art features Yara in unison with her Amazon sisters ready for their impending battle to save the Amazon rainforest from an unknown evil. Yara is in her groundbreaking Wonder Woman suit of red and blue with golden armor. The bola is grasped in both her hands and glowing, similar to Diana’s Lasso of Truth. A new accessory to Yara is her tiara with a red star. Behind Yara are unknown members of the Esquecida wearing matching colored outfits and armor similar to Yara’s.
DC FanDome recently announced an epic crossover event titled Wonder Women: Trial of the Amazons is coming, starring the Wonder Women of past and present in what’s been described as a struggle for power – one Yara is now more likely to win with her sisters in tow. As the newest Wonder Woman, Yara has shown her valor as a warrior in DC’s Future State: Wonder Woman, Future State: Justice League, and Future State: Superman/Wonder Woman, but her backstory was always missing. All the pieces of the puzzle are finally coming together as Yara dives deeper into her history and reveals the truth behind her birthright. Now, with a newfound family to protect, DC’s future Wonder Woman will pave the way for her Amazon sisters in DC’s Wonder Girl #8 releasing January 25, 2022.
