The final episode of Seinfeld is not a very popular one. While fans still love watching old episodes where Jerry’s love interest denies Elaine toilet paper or the gang gets stuck on the subway, fans don’t have fond memories of the series finale. It felt like an odd way to end the show and it wasn’t particularly funny or clever.

While there are many things about Seinfeld that viewers don’t love, Jerry Seinfeld did grow a bit by the time that the sitcom said goodbye. Season 1 Jerry would be mad about the situation that finale Jerry found himself in, but he also had things to be optimistic about.

10 Hate: Arrested For Breaking The Law In A Small Town

In the final episode of Seinfeld, the gang was arrested for breaking the “Good Samaritan Law” by making fun of someone who was being mugged.

Season 1 Jerry would never have imagined that he would be arrested in the future, especially not for laughing at a stranger, which he had been doing for a long time. Jerry would hate that this is where he ended up. The point of the finale was to prove that the characters were terrible people, but Jerry didn’t think of himself as a bad guy, so this would have really gotten under his skin.

9 Proud: Made A Name For Himself In The New York Comedy Scene

Jerry is famous for making jokes about his daily life and that is something that he never stopped throughout all nine seasons of Seinfeld.

Season 1 Jerry would definitely be proud that he became a successful comedian who really had made a name for himself. While it wasn’t ideal to be put in jail, of course, he could view it as a temporary difficulty that he could overcome, as he was always talented and worked hard for what he had.

8 Hate: Still Fairly Clueless About Dating

Jerry had trouble finding the right person and by the series finale, he still hadn’t found love.

While Jerry seemed to enjoy his bachelor lifestyle, he wouldn’t love to know that in the finale, he was still clueless about dating and relationships. It seemed like he could never commit, and even if he could, he would do something to mess it up. Jerry might have been happy with his life, but he would probably wonder why he was still single so many years later.

7 Proud: Maintained His Close Friendships

Jerry could be a bad friend but most of the time, he was someone with whom Elaine, George, and Kramer wanted to spend most of their time.

Season 1 Jerry would be proud that by the series finale, he had maintained his close friendships. He still hung out with the same people that he always did, and while they did find themselves in a difficult situation, at least they were together. It’s no small feat to keep hanging out with the same friends year after year as life can be busy and coordinating schedules can be complicated.

6 Hate: Other Characters Testified About The Worst Things Jerry Did

The two-part series finale of Seinfeld involved past characters coming back and testifying about how awful the gang was. For example, Marla talked about how she was a virgin and found out that they came up with a contest, and she thought it was terrible.

Jerry would have hated hearing these stories, as no one wants to think that they’re a bad person. It was tough and uncomfortable for him to sit there and listen to these stories. This isn’t something that he would ever have imagined happening.

5 Proud: NBC Agreed To Make Jerry And George’s Pilot

Jerry and George had a long road to making their sitcom pilot for NBC. In the season 4 episode “The Pitch,” they finally got their big break, but George was so freaked out that he ruined the whole opportunity.

Now, in the series finale, NBC told the friends that they could make their pilot. It was amazing news and something that Jerry would be very proud of, as he was finally at the place in his career that he had always wanted to be.

4 Hate: Jerry Did Stand-Up In Jail, And Everyone Hated It

Jerry’s most hilarious storylines found him getting into silly and weird situations. Nothing was stranger than when he and his friends ended up in jail.

Fans saw Jerry doing stand-up in jail, and it wasn’t going very well. This would have really upset season 2 Jerry, as he hated when people didn’t understand his comedy, and he wanted everyone to like him. Jerry has some people-pleasing tendencies so this would have been a nightmare for him.

3 Proud: On His Way To Paris And Having Fun With His Friends

In the first part of the Seinfeld series finale, George, Jerry, Kramer, and Elaine were flying to Paris. George and Jerry were going to live in California to work on their TV show, and they wanted to have some fun beforehand.

Season 1 Jerry would be have been thrilled that he was getting the chance to do some international travel. He would have really appreciated that he was at a place in his life where he could make a last-minute decision to just fly somewhere.

2 Hate: Never Knew What Elaine Was Going To Say

When their plane seemed to be going down, it seemed like Elaine was going to tell Jerry that she loved him. She didn’t get a chance to finish her sentence.

Jerry and Elaine’s former relationship was one of the most compelling parts of the series, and it would have been great to have the characters end up together in the last episode. Jerry would hate that he never got the chance to hear what Elaine was going to say to him, as they got distracted by the events that followed.

1 Proud Of: Jerry And George Were Still Analyzing The World Around Them

In the finale, Jerry was talking to George about his shirt buttons, which fans recall was a conversation they had in the first season.

Fans know that many Seinfeld episodes are”about nothing” and this is a good example of that kind of storyline. Jerry would have been glad to know that in the future, while he wouldn’t want to be in jail, he and George were still analyzing the world around them. This was Jerry’s favorite type of discussion to have and he hadn’t lost his knack for finding what was funny about everyday life.
