Vegetas Final Flash Vs Gokus Kamehameha Which Dragon Ball Attack Is Stronger

Two of the most iconic attacks in all of Dragon Ball Z are the Kamehameha and Final Flash. The Kamehameha is Master Roshi’s signature move, passed on to just about all of his students. Even Cell, from genetic memory alone, could replicate the mighty attack. The Final Flash is one of Vegeta’s most famous attacks and it arguably ranks supreme among them, able to rip solar systems apart with its sheer, unrelenting power.

The iconic Kamehameha and Galick Gun (Vegeta’s other famous move) beam-struggle from the early Saiyan Saga rank among the most iconic moments in Dragon Ball Z history. But if Goku and Vegeta fought again, throwing two of their most well-known attacks, the Kamehameha and Final Flash, straight into one another, which would overcome the other?

The Key Is Ki

The effectiveness of special attacks like the Kamehameha or Final Flash are only as useful as those who wield them. This might seem obvious, but needless to say, while the attacks concentrate an individual’s ki into a singular point, the power of that attack is not a static, consistent value. Goku’s first Kamehameha in Dragon Ball is far weaker than his Kamehameha as a Super Saiyan Blue in Dragon Ball Super.

However, a Quora user offers a detailed explanation of how the ki struggles work, arguing that both the Final Flash and Kamehameha function on the same general principals. Unlike super-heated piercing attacks like Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon or Frieza’s Death Beam, both the Final Flash and Kamehameha gather ki to generate raw, concussive force. When it hits you, it will blast you away, the ground you stand on, the mountains behind you and, if there’s enough power, any planet in the way. One can even alter the amount of energy charged into an attack mid-way through, as seen when Goku unleashes a Kaio-Ken x4 midway through his Kamehameha/Galick Gun beam struggle, thus winning the battle.

It’s Charge Time

Both attacks require the individual to charge up energy, though. This means that a quick Kamehameha might be weaker than a long, charged up Final Flash. However, in cases like this, Goku’s fired attack would probably blow Vegeta away before he can unleash his fully-charged attack anyway. This brings us to the second point the Quora user brings up: concentration. Both attacks require the user to focus on generating and controlling the energy. If their concentration is broken, then the attack diminishes in effectiveness. This can be seen during Gohan and Cell’s Kamehameha struggle. Cell is winning until Vegeta strikes him with a generic ki blast, which distracts him long enough for Gohan to push harder.

However, the Final Flash is almost always at max power. Vegeta’s attack is pure force whereas Goku has exercised far more control over his Kamehameha, with some being relatively weaker, some being fired with his feet, and others being a just quick burst. In this sense, in order to compete with the power output of the Final Flash, Goku would have to unleash a full-out Kamehameha attack to match it.

Ergo, either attack — the Final Flash and Kamehameha — could out-power the other, especially considering that, in present Dragon Ball Super, both Vegeta and Goku have similar levels of power, with only Ultra Instinct giving Goku the edge. However, if Goku unleashes anything less than his strongest Kamehameha, the Final Flash will overpower his attack. The average Kamehameha just won’t cut it. However, an Ultra Instinct Kamehameha — or even the non-canon 10x Kamehameha — might overpower Final Flash, due to there just being more energy concentrated into the attack.

What Can Beat Both?

The Spirit Bomb and Super Dragon Fist can subvert or overpower both attacks. The Spirit Bomb is one of Goku’s strongest moves but requires an absurdly long charge-time. On the contrary, the Super Dragon Fist, being such an unorthodox move, could paralyze and break Vegeta before the attack reaches him. Several specialized attacks, if given enough fuel, could break through both ki blasts to hit the target first.

Let’s return to the specialized attacks. Moves like the Death Beam and Special Beam Cannon pierce through what they strike. This means that, while neither attack could necessarily block the incoming force from striking Piccolo or Frieza, both the Death Beam and Special Beam Cannon could stab through the Kamehameha and Final Flash, thus cutting through the attacker. This might result in them losing focus and control over the attack, thus ending matters entirely.

Bizarrely, one attack that could be effective at tearing through each attack is Krillin’s Destructo Disk. Krillin’s singular attack, which can split apart enemies far stronger than him, like Frieza, might be the move best suited to tearing through his friends’ mightiest attacks — if given, again, enough energy.
